The High-achiever’s paradox

Have you ever felt burned out? Perhaps you’ve been hearing the term “functional burnout” more often, and you’re curious about what it means.
“Just” be more resilient

This is a criticism that I’ve heard re-emerging over the last few years when someone isn’t coping with circumstances. I have to say that to me, it really shows the character of the person uttering the words and I’m not being complimentary here.
Are you rushing around for the holidays?

Less than 3 weeks to go! I know – you probably didn’t really need the reminder, huh?
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity

If I were to ask you the question – “How’s your health?”
What would you think I meant?
Most people I speak to immediately go to equate my question with wellness – physical and mental health wellness – not the encompassing well-being. Very few ever mention or even consider their social well-being. “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” World Health Organization, 1948.
Feeling like you’re on your way to burnout or already there?

It’s just a flesh wound”
“Tis but a scratch”
Fans of Monty Python and The Holy Grail will remember those words. For everyone else – it’s a scene where the Black Knight and King Arthur are duelling and the Black Knight keeps being struck by King Arthur and loosing limbs but refuses to give up.
