Wellbeing Challenges in the Workplace

Are you noticing that your team (or team members) aren’t performing as well as they have previously? It could even be your peers or boss.
What else have you noticed? Maybe they are now rushing into work and rushing to leave at the end of the day, where they used to be relaxed.
Maybe they aren’t taking breaks. There are so many behavioural changes that can indicate an issue to you – you just have to be aware and take notice.
Great Resignation, Great Reflection or just plain Burnout…

So much has already been written about the “Great Resignation” and people valuing themselves and choosing employment that matched their values. In this article, I’d like to discuss burnout and perhaps substitute the word ‘Reflection’ for ‘Resignation’.
We’ve known for many years that women tend to statistically do more in the home than men. At this point, I will apologise to those who identify as other than men or women – I am purposefully targeting the large groups of people who identify as traditional genders to illustrate my points. To quote a recent McKinsey podcast “The state of burnout for women in the workplace”, “One in three women, and 60 percent of mothers with young children… spend five or more hours a day on housework and caregiving.” Five or more hours per day.
Work/Life Balance… Really?

The purpose of this article is to encourage you to pause and think about your current circumstances, why you are where you are (have you chosen it or have societal pressures shaped you?) and if it suits your purpose/desired outcomes. If not, what are your options?
